Operations
Last updated on October 26, 2026
Operations are the interventions carried out on an apiary or a hive (inspection, treatment, feeding, etc.). To create one, select the apiary(ies) or hive(s) in question, then choose the operation type.
Principle
Every operation is dated, typed, and linked to one or more apiaries or one or more hives. It has a status — Upcoming or Done — which lets you plan an intervention ahead of time just as well as record one that has already happened.
Creating an operation
On the website
- Go to Operations → List or Operations → Calendar.
- Click Add.
- Select the apiary(ies) or hive(s) in question, the operation type, and the status (Upcoming / Done).
- Add your observations.
- Confirm.
On the mobile app
- In the Enter tab, select Operations.
- Scan the hive's QR code or select it manually.
- Choose the operation type and enter your observations.
- Confirm.
Viewing operations
Operations can be viewed in several ways:
- List: chronological display of all operations, filterable by apiary, hive, type, or status.
- Calendar: monthly view to spot interventions over time.
- To do: shows only operations still at the Upcoming status.
Operation types are customizable in Management → Operation types.
Why keep a log of your interventions on hives?
Keeping a written record of the inspections, treatments, and feedings given to each colony is a recommended management practice in beekeeping: it makes it easy to find what has already been done on a hive, avoid missed or duplicate interventions, and document the health interventions carried out on the herd.
Operations recorded in ApiTracer make up this log as it happens, viewable by hive, by apiary, or by type, and automatically feed the breeding register — see the corresponding question in the FAQ.
