Storage types

A storage type groups containers that share the same properties (drums, pots, buckets…) and, above all, a code range: the interval of storage codes reserved for them. This is what lets the application automatically recognize, from a scanned code, which type of container it belongs to (storage codes). Each type also carries a buffer — the honey that stays in the extraction chain and never lands in any container — deducted from the net weight.

This is managed on the website only, from Management → Storage types.

Create a storage type​

Buffer and code ranges​

  • Code range: bounded by a Start code and an End code, it assigns a whole interval of codes to this type (for example 300000 to 309999 for pots). Ranges of two types must not overlap. A single type can receive several ranges.
  • Buffer: the amount of honey, in kilograms, that stays in the extraction chain for this type of container. It is deducted from the net weight calculation so as not to overestimate the honey actually stored.
  • Tare: the empty weight of the container, in kilograms, also deducted from the gross weight.
  • Reusable: indicates whether the container can be reused for a new batch once emptied.

Edit a storage type​

In the list of storage types, click the pencil icon in the Actions column. The form reopens with the same fields (name, buffer, tare, code ranges) pre-filled: adjust the value you want then click Save.

Delete a storage type​

In the Actions column, open the dropdown menu of the relevant row then click Delete. Only delete a type if its code range is no longer used by existing containers.
